 As Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas, I would like to welcome all who reside and visit our vibrant and faith-filled community. Southern Nevada is home to over half a million Catholic faithful and the Diocese of Las Vegas is dedicated to its mission of bringing the Gospel Message of Hope to all through evangelization, life-long formation and worship.
There is a long history of a Catholic presence in Nevada, with the first Catholic mass in the region being documented in 1775 by Father Garces OFM of Mexico. Although the history of the Diocese of Las Vegas is relatively shorter having been established on March 21, 1995 by his Holiness Pope John Paul II, we take great pride in bringing the personal encounter with Christ to the communities we serve across five counties and over 39,000 square miles of territory.
I encourage you to deepen your faith and realize your intimate encounter with Christ through His church.
