A Catholic Wedding for Visitors to Las Vegas?

Marriages of Catholics visiting Las Vegas are witnessed

at the Guardian Angel Cathedral.

There is no "quickie" way for Catholics to be married in

Las Vegas.  Catholic marriages (as valid sacramental union) cannot be witnessed in a hotel, casino, wedding chapel or outdoor arena in Las Vegas.  Roman Catholics wishing to marry validly should be suspect of any so-called (roman) catholic priest offering such accommodations.

HOW TO SCHEDULE A WEDDING AT GUARDIAN ANGEL CATHEDRAL

FOR THOSE LIVING OUTSIDE OF LAS VEGAS

Decide on a date / time for the ceremony before you call.  It is good to have an alternate date(s).  We celebrate weddings only on Saturday at 10am or 7pm.

Call 702-735-5241 weekdays  between 8:30 am to 1:30 pm to set the date.  We are closed for lunch 12 -1 pm.

Do not assume the date / time will be available and Do not set the venue for your reception before you secure the date and time for the church ceremony.

When the church ceremony has been tentatively confirmed, you will be sent an information packet that will answer all your questions about marriage preparation and the paper work required.

There is a deposit ($250.00) needed to secure the date  /  time.  This deposit, along with a preparation confirmation from your parish priest, is expected within one month after the tentative date is agreed upon.  These will guarantee the requested date and time. 

After the above has been completed, the formal marriage preparation will take place in your local parish.

NOTE

Residents of Las Vegas are Required to be Married

in Their Local Parish.

Join A Cathedral Ministry

 

As the Mother Church of our diocese, all liturgical ministries at Guardian Angel Cathedral are open for participation from any member, of any parish, in the Las Vegas Diocese (providing it does not interfere with your current participation at your home parish.)  If you have one Sunday a month available to serve at your Cathedral we would welcome your participation.  Training sessions are held three times per calendar year in the Cathedral Church beginning at 6:30 pm (*) and will not exceed three-hours. 

The next sessions are as follows:  Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist – Wednesday January 21, Tuesday May 19, and Tuesday September 22, 2009 / Lectors – Thursday January 22, Wednesday May 20, and Wednesday September 23, 2009 / Adult and Young Person Altar Servers – *Saturday January 24, (beginning at 9am), Thursday May 21, and Thursday September 24, 2009. To reserve a spot at the workshop please contact Michael La Rocca at 702-735-5241 ext. 249.
